Online Master of Arts with Emphasis in Teaching
The Teaching Concentration provides advanced preparation in accomplished teaching assessment, reflective practice and applications of technology. The goal is to enhance the analytical, theoretical and professional foundations that equip graduates with the skills necessary to become leaders among teachers. The following program concentrations are available:
Program Length and Design Candidates may choose the teaching credential program either as a stand alone program or in collaboration with the masters program. Both options are designed to meet the requirements of the Traditional Student Teaching Track as well as the Intern Teaching Track. The Intern track serves the needs of candidates who are eligible for the Intern Credential while employed by local districts and enrolled in the Alliant teaching credential program and the traditional student teaching track.
Alliant teacher preparation programs are available on a full-time or part-time basis. The full-time option may be completed in two semesters (credential only) with a fall start or three semesters (fall-spring-summer) when the teaching credential is earned concurrently with the master's degree. The part-time option takes two years. Classes meet during evenings and/or on weekends to accommodate work schedules. The 100% online MA in Education program (current teaching credential required for admission) is student paced.
A unique feature of the teacher training programs at Alliant is a two-year follow-up program designed to support graduates as they enter or continue their teaching careers. A combination of group support, structured mentoring and access to experienced master teachers is offered to all program graduates as they solidify and expand their skills.
