Intern Teaching Program - Early Completion Option - San Diego

Admission to Alliant
- Possess a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
- Have an overall grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for undergraduate coursework or a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for master's level work
- Complete the university’s written application forms with requisite fee.
- Submit two (2) letters of recommendation addressing competency in and capacity to teach in California schools and to excel in graduate level academic studies.
- Professional Written Statement addressing the candidate’s Philosophy of Education, the candidate’s activities toward advancing that philosophy as well as the candidate’s educational background, knowledge, skills and experiences that would classify the candidate as a “highly qualified teacher.”
| Qualifications for entering the ECO Program are especially stringent and include proving your readiness to teach and your foundational pedagogical capacity by passing the Teaching Foundations Examination. Other requirements include the Alliant admissions requirements shown below.
Admission to GSOE's Early Completion Option
- Provide written evidence of having passed the CBEST.
- Provide written evidence of appropriate subject matter competency:
- Pass the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET) for the Multiple Subject Credential.
- Pass the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET) or obtain a single subject matter equivalency letter from an approved university in the appropriate subject area for the Single Subject Credential.(link to CCTC site for approved programs)
- Possession of a CCTC Certificate of Clearance.
- Provide written evidence of having passed the Teaching Foundations Examination in appropriate area of certification.
- Participation in an interview with the GSOE Admissions Panel (faculty and field supervisors) and receive a favorable review
- Successful completion of a collegiate-level course or examinations covering the principles and provisions of the United States Constitution.
- Provide written evidence of an Offer of Employment as a teacher of record in a California public school or a California accredited private school in partnership with Alliant International University’s Partners for Success.
- Apply to CCTC through Alliant for an Intern Teaching Credential.
The ECO Program is a two-semester comprehensive design inclusive of four major components:
- Successful completion of the four California Teaching Performance Assessments. The tasks are inter-related yet separate and are sequenced throughout the program in response to the design of increasing complexity.
- Participation in weekly seminars, peer/supervisor workshops, and identified Saturday seminars provided over two semesters which provide an introduction to and complex preparation for the California Teaching Performance Assessments as well as highly advanced coursework in strategies to advance student learning.
- Sixteen (eight in the fall semester and eight in the spring semester) observations; mentoring, coaching, assessment sessions; Intern reflection, and planning in collaboration with candidate’s university field supervisor are required.
- Identified coursework (3 units online instruction) in instructional technology.
Successful progression through and completion of these required program components is monitored quarterly and supported throughout the program by each candidate’s GSOE Support Team inclusive of the candidate’s field supervisor, faculty advisor, and seminar faculty lead.
